With Internet Explorer 6 now opened and running on my screen I decided to poke around and see if I could crash it. Typically this disappears before the program is actually on your screen. Instead there is a miniature icon that bounces for a little while on top of the Crossover icon in the dock. Applications launched with Crossover Mac do not have regular bouncing icons in your dock like other OS X programs. Again it seemed to take it's time launching and at first I was not sure it was launching at all. Afterwards I launched IE6 from the Crossover "Programs" menu. This went pretty smooth, although it did take an extraordinary amount of time to actually complete the installation. Codeweavers recommends that these applications be give there own bottle from which to work from when you are using the built in install selector.įor the first test I installed Microsoft's Internet Explorer 6.0 from the Crossover install selector. There is also the option to install unsupported programs. Most of these actually run suprisingly well. By default there is a list of programs that can be installed that are currently supported by the application. These bottles can either be a Win98 or Win2000 setup. Software is installed within what they call bottles. You can open programs from Crossover's own menu or by directly double clicking on the executable. I will give this software credit for being a tightly integrated solution. From an end user standpoint this software is not even close yet to the level of stability I have been used to with Codeweaver's Crossover Office for Linux. Some things work, and work pretty well I might add, but those things that do not work are really bad. I've been testing Crossover Mac by Codeweavers with varying success as of late. I'm posting here as well in the Reader News section for those who might now read the blogs. I've written up a review on my blog here about my tests so far with Crossover Mac.
